Default How do yall afford housing during OT school?

I'm lost. How can any OT student afford housing? Do they take out huge loans and live off of it for 2.5 years? Do they have roommates? I'm just asking because I will be applying to OT school in a year and i don't know what to do about housing. Will I be allowed to stay in the dorms?

Loans, loans, loans, and roommates (unless the cost of living happens to be awesomely low in a particular town). Schools you're accepted to will walk you through the financial aid process, but it's my understanding that you can take out whatever you need through the government, though not at a pretty interest rate. Some schools offer graduate housing on campus, but at my undergrad university I actually payed more as a freshman sharing a dorm room than I did living just a few minutes off campus with a few roommates. It really depends on the school and its setting, however - this may not be the case in some large cities. Accruing debt is not a pleasant reality, but I personally find solace in the fact that OT is a solid, growing field. There will always be decent paying job opportunities for graduates somewhere.
