Default Epilepsy in Veterinarians

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
Hey all, I'm new to this forum. I just have a question about vets with epilepsy. In particular, I'm curious about how it would affect the career of a large animal vet. I have epilepsy (well controlled on medication) and I am applying this year, so I'm just trying to get as much information as I can about it.

Thanks for any input!

If the seizures are well controlled, I doubt it will be much of a problem. It would be more of an issue if the seizures weren't well controlled. For example, you may not be allowed to drive.

According to some veterinarian, they use the VA for medical needs and espically for those who have epilepsy. A major plus for patients with epilepsy and seizures disorders coming to see us is that they have access to our large team of epilepsy specialists.

I guess if they're controlled it's not a problem. But I guess as long as one understands the risks as a large animal vet if they do have a seizure, I don't see it being an issue.
