Default Downward Grade Trend for my Last Semester

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
During the my last semester of undergrad, I took two upper level science courses. During this time I was taking a MCAT Class and devoted most of my time and energy towards that. This was the second time I took the MCAT and really needed to improve my score by at least 4 points. So my class grades suffered. At the end of the semester I will be lucky to get a B. My question is will having a C in an upper level science course hurt my chances getting into a DO School?

My current cGPA and sGPA are around a 3.7. The grades won't have a huge effect on my GPA but I know schools look for upward grade trends.

A C in an upper level science course is not great, but its not the end of the world. You have an above average GPA for DO schools, so I wouldn't worry too much about a single C grade. Of course a B or better would be best, but a C won't really hold you back.

I would not consider this to be a "downward trend." A downward trend would be more like a 3.8 first year, 3.6 second year. 3.3 third year, 3.0 fourth year... You had one rocky semester during an otherwise impressive undergraduate performance.
