Pertaining to the supplemental application,

If you take a look at the online application versus the pdf file of the app, out of the two essay question there is one that is different? Is this a mistake or just something done on purpose to serve as a variety to the admissions committee?

verify anyone?

I believe lectures are mantaory.

Would be willing to answer rotation or residency questions?

I'm C/O 2012.

I was wondering how you feel about the overall rotations, do they give you good education and freedom? How many elective rotations do you get the 4th year?

I was also wondering if there was any traveling involved for clinical. Did a lot of ppl have to relocate to get good education or is it all fairly close?

Not sure I feel about having to move during med school but you got to do what you got to do.
Thanks

They usually don't change the essay questions. If you haven't filled it out yet, call Janette tom. If you have, I wouldn't worry about it. They aren't anal retentive about this sort of stuff and would accept it (if it's their fault).

Green box on bottom left hand side of the home page always contains the most current match list(s).

Rotations are solid if you do alot of work. Several of the CORE sites are good while others are not good. You will have plenty of time to do rotations at both programs you want to go to or in geographic locations you want to go. They are increasing the class size significantly so I believe that may adversely affect rotations for a couple years but they will continue to find solid places to rotate.

What's considered a "short essay"? 2 paragraphs? 1?

Do you know roughly how many more seats they're adding?

The seat addition began with the class of 2016. 75 new seats were added for a total of 225.

The essays don't need to be long. I believe I had 1 page double-spaced and 3/4 for the second. You should be fine with 2 or 3 paragraphs. Just don't try to make a long, impressive essay full of smoke. They'll probably have read 50 before yours, so keep it concise, interesting, and sincere. Good luck!

I keep hearing rumors that LMU DCOM is regionally biased. What do you guys think?

There may be a slight bias for those in underserved regions of Appalachian region (the AACOM CIB has more info on it) but it won't be a dealbreaker if you aren't from this area. I did read somewhere that most DCOM students are from TN or the surrounding states but that may be because DCOM receives more applications (hence more acceptances) from such areas. If you look at the facebook group for the C/O 2016 you'll see there are quite a few people from various parts of the country.

Just submitted my application! So excited!

I have a question for any current students - did any of you come to LMU from more metropolitan areas? I grew up in rural Tennessee, but I've lived the past decade-ish in NYC and Atlanta. I am definitely looking forward to relocating to a less metro environment, but I'm wondering if anyone can speak to their adjustment?

Thank you!!

Yeah, at my interview I did notice a lot of people from the surrounding states, but I did see a few Californias. I'm from Chicago and could not be more excited to move down to this beautiful area Good luck to all applicants! DCOM makes the interview day as fun and as stress-free as possible.

Plenty of people from out of state/out of Appalachia in my c/o 2012. You should think about it in 2 ways:
1) A school will get the most applications from areas close to their school.
2) If there are two similar applications (which happens often) then the student from appalachia may get the nod due to the mission, but then again its all about the interiew isnt it?

I know LMU says that you can send your secondary after filling out the primary, but what do we put for LMU ID# in the secondary? Since we haven't received an ID from them yet.

I don't believe I put anything in that section when I applied. You don't have a LMU ID# yet. Good luck!

Just leave it blank - they assign you an ID, I believe, when they receive your first piece of paperwork but if they haven't sent it to you yet then you're not expected to know it. I left it blank.

Im excited to apply here! Its my second choice behind WVSOM. I am also from a metro area (Las Vegas) and really want to relocate to a small area with lots of outdoors activities which LMU seems to be! My GPA is below there average (3.25c/3.0s) but my MCAT is ok (26). I have a lot of EC including published clinical research, ER Scribe, international medical programs and President of Pre-SOMA. Im hoping this will help to offset my GPA. Any current students out there have any thoughts?

Should I bother submitting the supplementary before I get my MCAT score? I won't get it until end of July...
Technically, the website says step 2: supplementary application (which includes a section on MCAT score), but step 3 is submitting the official MCAT score.

My app is done and Verified! I'm sending my letters this week so I'll be complete before July. Should I wait for an invite for the secondary or just submit one on my own?

Actually I'm still waiting for aacomas to release my primary to schools. It was released as of 6/14 but then I guess aacomas changed their mind with a bunch of us and they are postponing the release for some reason. So in other words I haven't been able to do secondaries yet.

Last year the website said (verify that it still says) to go ahead and submit the secondary upon completion of the primary. I would recommend that competitive applicants do so if that's still what they say. If you feel like you're not competitive it may be better to wait on the invite rather than toss $75 (obviously null and void if $$$ isn't an issue).

In your case - I'd submit secondary.

you know just so you guys know, i spoke with an admissions counselor here and they said they'd "PREFER" us to wait until july 1, because they won't even have a file downloaded from us. i was ready to go june 1 but not only did they change the secondary a bit, but they really recommended i submit july 1.

I'd like to look it over. it seems like these two questions are kind of open ended, as long as you make it personal and meaningful you should be fine.

Does admissions actually read these essays. 90% of the questions asked on these secondaries were already covered on the primary. It's seems like all that these secondary applications are are merely remnants of original medical school applications before aacomas and aamc existed, but schools still want to give them out. I don't know, just ranting.

An additional way to squeeze another 50 bucks out of us? Absolutely. Another hoop to jump through none the less....

You are so right, it is another hoop to jump through. I think LMU actually uses them though, as opposed to other schools that you literally just pay the money.

I think my pre-med advisor sent out all my LORs nearly a month ago. Any ideas what schools will do with LORs before they even have primary apps?

They'll probably create a file for you. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Anyone else have trouble submitting the secondary? First I had browser text-box editing problems where it would delete my essays and when I finally got it to work it said I needed an account to log in.

What gives... Hearing that other people submitted already without an email specifically about the supplemental makes me frustrated now that I can't submit it!
