This is good to know. Did you post this type of info on all the schools or just your interest? Either way it is helpful

My first choice as well. Though my GPAs are below their average. Hope to balance that with a good MCAT score. I know for a fact that NOVA like applicants with above average MCAT (29+).

I figured it was easy to access data. It is just nice to have on the screen right in front of me just as I am thinking about it....

hello everyone!
NSU is my #1 since I live so close. In fact, I am an undergrad there. The campus is very nice. Best of luck to everyone in this cycle!

Ugh. I called NSUCOM today to try and meet with an admissions advisor. My GPA is so bleh..I want to know what they suggest I do (go ahead and apply, take some more upper division level science classes, grad school etc) Especially since NSUCOM is my first choice, I want to do w.e they think is best..

But alas, the woman I was referred to never called me back. Do you guys think it would be unorthodox to just go there with transcript in hand??

I'm in that same boat!

I'm a non trad student, I have low cumulative gpas(3.2/3.0s) bc I didn't take undergrad very seriously and had a super hard major (physics) But ....I have a master's in modern languages (gpa 3.65), 23 post grad science course work (3.85), and a 34M mcat (14b, 12p, 8v)..

So I hope they look past our gpas and shows us some love for our mcats!

Good luck to everyone!

Your stats look quite strong. A steep uptrend in GPA and a high MCAT score are always helpful. I'm also applying there and keeping my fingers crosses. Is it true that this is considered one of the more competitive DO schools? Hope my stats are good enough.

Canadian
Non-traditional applicant
3.4/3.41/31N, 3.76 grad school GPA
Above average ECs

AACOMAS submitted on 6/6, waiting for transcript to arrive.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Your stats are great, I'm sure you will get lots of interviews! I do think that Nova is a more competitive DO school. I'm from Fl so this is my top pick. I just submitted today!

From my experience as a new OMS-3, NSUCOM seems to like and embrace non-traditional students. You should do fine. I was a non-trad with stats not as impressive as yours, and I got in. Best of luck to you!

Also, best of luck to everyone who is applying!

That's encouraging to know! How has your experience been with the school? Anything expected/unexpected? Are their essays on the secondary

Yeah your stats looks great. The only thing that may slow you down is the Canadian thing, it is hard for any Canadian to get into a US school. You should do just fine. Nice MCAT score and grad GPA btw.

One of the student guides during the interview day was a Canadian. I wish I remembered his name or anything he told us regarding his pursuit of getting into a US school. Your stats look pretty good, though. Good luck!

I only applied to 2 DO (plus 21 MD) schools, but, if I get accepted here, I will be attending.

Yes. Have you submitted your primary yet? Get that secondary in right after you get it. If it is anything like last year then it will take you all of 5 minutes, just have your primary app ready to look at.

Good luck

I really want to go to this school! I applied to 14 schools total (DO and MD) and Nova is in my top 2. I'm also non-traditional and am excited to see a few others in my boat posting here. Looking forward to getting my secondary and keeping my fingers crossed for an interview!

Default Roommate

Hey, M2 here looking for a roommate/roommates for the fall semester. I need housing by August 1st. I would prefer to live close to campus between $400-750 for my share of rent/utilities.

About me:
*Male
*Very cleanly, but not at the OCD level
*Non-smoker
*No pets
*Laid-back hardworking type
*Relatively quiet/will be studying a lot
*I like to joke around, lots of sarcasm
*Respectful of others things/privacy
*Big sports fan. I like to exercise as well.
*Originally from IL
*I have a car, so I need parking to be available

What I'm looking for:
*Someone similar
*Ideally looking for someone I could be friends/hang out with
*Drama free environment

Message me if you're interested. Also, if you have any questions about NSU feel free to ask those as well. Good luck to those still applying.

Does Nova send the secondary application request over an email after the AACOMAS primary?

Based on last year's thread, secondaries went out through email on June 23. That falls on a Saturday this year so I'm guessing they will go out around the 22 or 25 of this month.

Is anyone able to view their profiles on AACOMAS? When I click on the view button next to the release date, a message comes up saying "sorry could not find file at this time".

I like this school a lot. I read that you need a "liberal arts professor" LOR on their website (assuming your school doesn't do committee letters) and my non-science letter is from a psychology professor. I hope that counts. Maybe I'm just being neurotic?

Also, most of my letters were written this time 2011, except my D.O. letter. I hope that doesn't matter either, but I'm non-trad and I wanted to get letters when my professors still had interacted with me recently (also considered applying DO last year, but never did)

What College is the Psych Dept in? If it is in the CoLA, then you should be good to go.

Well, it's in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. So I don't know. My degree is in psychology and it's a B.S., but this letter was counted as non-science for the few MD programs I had started applying to last cycle.

On the website, it says you need to have at least a 2.0 in all courses. What if you have less than 2.0 in inorganic chem 1 but a higher mark in inorganic chem 2 and the average for "a year of inorganic chem" is above 2.0...is that still fine?
Thanks!

Judging by the language... No, that's not fine. It says at least 2.0/C in ALL courses.

No it is not ok. You will be rejected if you don't retake that course. Who the hell let you take Chem 2 after you got a D in chem 1

Good question, but it could have been a C- and not a D.
