OOS UTK Alternate List

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if UTK has started or will be calling off the out of state alternate list?

UTK told an IS friend of mine three or four weeks ago that they were re-evaluating the waitlist :apps just based on experiences and non-academic qualifications since they assumed everyone on the wait list was academically eligible. She was told to call back in two weeks. Has anyone heard of anybody being called off the UTK wait list at all?

I'm also wondering if UTK even needs to call anyone from the alternate lists? Wondering if the class is full for 2012-13. Just seems like they would have called already if they needed people.

Does anyone know how many out of state they are looking to fill? Any idea of how far down the waitlist they have gotten?

I am OOS. They did not mention how far down the wait list or how many people they are taking.

I think that there are 20 OOS seats at UTK, but could be wrong. And since there is no order to the wait list (since they simply reevaluate everyone each time a new spot opens up) I don't know that its possible to know how close you are to the top of the list even if you knew how many people were called off the list.

Do you mean they are looking for 20 people OOS to fill seats? That seems like alot, I hope that's the case. I know I called and was told that Dr Brace had reviewed the alternates and did put a list together.

20 sounds about right. I think that's about how many our class has. Just keep in mind that does not mean that 20 people will be called off the waitlist. It's entirely possible that many of the OOS spots are already filled with people who accepted.

If 20 is correct, that is how many OOS seats are open for the class. Those seats are filled at this point, and if you get called off the alternate list, it is because someone gave up their OOS spot. It may not happen at all, or it may happen for 2 or 3 people. Just want to make sure you aren't under the impression that there are still 20 people who will get a call soon.

Also dean brace said if there were 30 excellent OOS candidates, they would take 30. I think not many OOS declined going there that year they accepted that many.

However I was accepted and am going to my IS. Im sure others have and will too!
