You have to retake. 16 rc is not going to get you in especially with an 18 AA. Bite the bullet and retake!
Aim for a 20 AA or above. Those 16 AA acceptances are most likely URM's. |

Definitely retake as soon as you feel comfortable and still apply as early as you can, even without an updated score. I had several interviews and an acceptance with an 18AA but I got a 22RC which is sort of what you need to offset that AA. Otherwise, you application looks good.

I would retake it because you have a great gpa and to have such a good gpa means you can do better. If you think you cant do better then dont do it. But I believe if you did better you would have more options to choose from and it may save you tens of thousands, or you may a choice in a city that would make you happy. Good luck

Sure, I actually got a 21RC not a 22. Anyway here is my score breakdown:
QR 18 RC 21 Bio 16 <--- I still can't believe this!!! GC 18 OC 19 TS 18 AA 18 PAT 20 Regardless, you should retake. For some reason a 16 Bio is not the same as a 16 RC. You will be fine, goodluck!! |

Your scores of 17 PAT and 16 RC really would limit your application success. You need a retake in my opinion.

I think the 16 RC hurts your app the most, even more than the 18AA.. I've heard that most school have a cutoff of 17 for RC - based on that fact, I would just retake.
Also, I got the catalog as well and yeah there are exceptions... but would you risk it? What if you don't get in this year, just b/c you didn't retake? The risk is too great IMO In no way am I an expert, just what I would do if I was in your position. sorry

It depends on what your situation is. Do you have a state school? If you do I'd say you have a pretty fair shot at it (assuming you make the DAT minimums for RC, etc.). If you don't then it depends on what state you are from. Some schools reserve a certain amount of seats for states that don't have a dental school. I've seen Idaho residents with your scores get accepted to some out of state schools. Before Utah had a dental school they had an 'agreement' with an out of state school.
You're right on the borderline so it's up to you. Take what you hear on SDN with a grain of salt (also a direct quote from a dean of admissions I spoke to), everybody here likes to see a 3.8 and 20AA. Nobody here works for an admissions office though. There are quite a few schools that would gladly take a unique applicant despite lower than average scores.
