Current OT students:How to prepare/what to expect from the program?

Hello all! This message is directed towards all current students who are in an occupational therapy program. I have recently been admitted into Seton Hall in NJ's program and was just wondering what to expect and how i can prepare for the program. I have heard that the program at Seton Hall( or any program in general) is very rigorous. Anyways, I have a pretty solid background in anatomy and physiology, if that may help. My math skills are terrible( if the program requires calculations) and i have exceptional writing skills. Please feel free to post any advice/ comments about your program so i can have an idea of what to expect. Thank you

Welcome to SHU! My advice coming into the program is just prioritize, study hard, and get through it. Use your classmates as a resource and form study groups. Our class did that we we got through it! also ask tons of questions to the professors, they are very helpful as well. If you have any questions about the 1st year (well I am technically still in it because we have summer session) you can message me!

I am in hopes its not going to be a ton of calculations too! I'm at Bay Path College I start August. I looked over the courses and books and feel confident.

Hi- I saw on a different post that you didn't take the GRE. Doesn't Seton Hall require it? Or did they just change their policy?

@OT dream, no seton hall did not require GREs. Kean also does not require them. If i am correct, the 3 nj schools for OT( kean, seton hall, and stockton) do not need it. However, most schools outside nj require them.

I know Seton Hall is 84 credits and 3 years which is one reason why I couldn't go there. I don't want to be in school any longer than I need to be 4 yrs was a lot and 2 more is all I can handle just study hard it's a very rigorous program from what I have heard. I'm at Bay Path College it's 2 years and 78 credits..like babycheeks said, the curriculum doesn't look to bad at all.

Speedy, i just saw that the cost of tuition per year is about 52,000. Is there a way that i can get aid somehow? So far, i've only been given loans from FAFSA. I absolutely need to get some kind of grants or scholarship, because i have no idea how me and my mother will pay all of this

52K per year is honestly to much, you might want to go elsewhere to keep the cost down? It should be 20K something a year. That might be some debt damage plus with your bachelors. I'd personal have to pass on that one and apply to others I can afford!

SHU is a bit pricey but, it is the best ranked school in NJ. For me I decided to go to SHU because I could live at home and save money that way, even though it may cost me another year. It depends what you want
