Probs not too low, and waiting won't help.

You've been on here too long to not know what the average MCAT of accepted students is. Just try to get the best score you can first, THEN ask whether it's good enough to get in.

This may be of some assistance - it contains ranges and averages for all the schools from 2011(the excel hasn't been QCed yet, so you'd be well advised to check the source data which is linked in the post).

I suggest you call the admission's office to receive the answer that will benefit you the most. I would also suggest you ask yourself if you are confident enough to do well once you enroll in your first semester of Podiatry School. Has your performance in your undergraduate courses given you the necessary confidence? If you feel you are ready, then apply. If you don't feel you are ready, then do what you need to do. Stay Focused! Best of Luck!

You should worry more about your confidence and what to do to improve that. You will only know if your gpa will do if you call the admissions office. If you are invited for an interview, you don't want them to doubt if they made the right decision to invite you. Your interview will show how confident you are in your abilities, how much you know about Podiatry and how much you want it. Best of Luck!

I was looking through the DPM booklet for 2012-13 and I think a 3.16 GPA is nothing to worry about considering that some schools accepted 2.5 GPA. I think you have a good chance, and apply broadly if you are nervous.
