Are any of you Tricare providers?

I am interested in becoming a tricare network provider and wondered if anyone else has gone through the process.

I'm reading up on things online, but would love to have some "real person" input about it. Was it worth it? Did you have any trouble with the process? Any advice?

I work at a community mental health agency, and all I know is that Tricare has a HORRIBLE reimbursement rate. Absolutely horrible.

i work in a residential setting, we are not in the tricare network, and they have pretty much paid us what we told them to pay every time....didnt even try to negotiate

do you know anything more about it? the difference is striking.

I asked around at the hospital where I work, and most people think it is okay, but I'm don't know much more detail than that.

It's like any other insurance company, except larger and more cumbersome.

However, reimbursement for private practice isn't horrible. I might add, I have not had to work with Tricare as a reimbursed provider, but I would imagine that with all things, once you streamline the work flow it can go smoothly. (At least many providers seem to handle it well.)

From a monetary standpoint, it's not horrible. For example in Portsmouth, VA 23704. A private practice would expect a reimbursement of $150 for an intake (90801) and $81 for a therapy session (90806).
