Default Biomechanics

Hi, I have a question, it might seem dumb but it is something that I always wanted to know. I know Podiatrists which design shoe inserts and I hear of some that work for big biomechanic-type companies which may make molds for feet and such. But do any Podiatrists help design shoes? I meant since they may master the gait of the individual and can narrow down which shoes are good for the patient. Can podiatrist's potentially help design running and walking shoes for big names such as Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc? Or do they have just designers who do that?

Simon Bartold is a podiatrist in Australia and is full time with ASICS - co-ordinating research and big input into design.

Thanks for the quick response. That is so cool! Are there any other podiatrists that do the same in the U.S?

This woman decided to make fashion shoes comfortable, not a bad idea.
