1. What are ways my mother can find a job in her field? She's put out resumes and everything on careerbuilder and posted an ad on craiglist. Nothing is working, either the jobs are scarce or too far away (4-5 hour drive). 2. How can she get experience? A lot of the jobs available require a BSW with 1 to 2 years experience. How do you get experience if no one will hire you? 3. What are the places social workers can work? I've looked at hospitals, schools, and everywhere. Thank you. |

You really need a MSW to start qualifying for the jobs. For the places you are looking at, they want at the very least MSWs and most likely at least the post grad license. Most people who get BSWs go immediately into an MSW (many programs will knock off a year if you qualify for advanced standing). It can also depend on where you live, some places are super saturated right now. I hear the more rural the place is, the greater the demand.
