Default Appropriate interview attire for women?

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
What tops are considered 'inappropriate' for dental interviews? I'm a bit on the petite side so I really try to stay away from boxy button-ups for fear of looking like a child/ too butch. I have a pant suit but want to buy a skirt suit as well to pair more feminine, but still professional blouses. I've seen a couple blouses online that I liked (in black or white of course), however I am unsure if this is not professional enough for an interview.

Honestly... i wouldn't stress TOO much about it, I think those blouses are fine. I was really stressed before my interview on whether everything I was wearing was professional and there were such a wide variety of outfits...as long as you look professional and put together, you'll be perfectly fine!

I just had my interview at NYU and there was one girl there wearing a MINIskirt and another wearing one of those tight bondage skirts. I don't know what was going through these girls' heads!! It was funny though because the director of admissions basically called out the girl by saying how proper attire has to be worn in the clinic, meaning knee length skirt for ladies! And then she specifically looked at that girl.

Your nails (for interviews) should appear neat, tidy and conservative. Avoid bright colors or ridiculous acrylic nails. I'd suggest a good french manicure (they look natural and clean) or just paint them a soft, natural tone.

Same goes for makeup. Keep it clean, simple and natural looking.

I hope I have a different idea of what a miniskirt is compared to what you wore...

I, personally, bought a pants suit just to go on the safe side because I have pretty long legs so skirts tend to look short on me. I don't want to give the impression that I'm trying to seduce the dean or anything LOLOL.
