You got an interview invite to DMU, while I got rejected?!? We both have very similar GPA's, but my MCAT is much higher. Earlier this week, I wanted to call them to find out why they rejected me, but I forgot. I'll get to that tomorrow morning.

Actually I really don't care they rejected me since it wasn't one of my top choices anyway. I'm just super OCD sometimes, as you can tell lol.

Naw. Maybe a little bit, but I doubt it is too different. There is a "coined" term for it over in the "pre-med" forums for like the "SDN Shift" or something like that.

Basically the theory states a couple things:
1) SDN pre-meds are planners/researchers. They memoroze med school stats and look into the process way in advance and think that one "C" will KILL their chances of becoming a doctor. In reality, not true.

2) only people not embarrassed of their scores post their scores.

3) I forgot number 3, but I'm 90% sure there is a 3rd tenet.

Edit: 3.0) ohhhh yeah. This is the Internet and people lie/embellish. Not saying that's happening here, but it's impossible to verify the validity of anyone's post.

True. Some people don't even know SDN exists. People here tend to stress out more than others, thus maybe more responsible for what they are doing. I doubt the SDN population will represent even 10% of all pre-meds, and that number goes down for pre-pods. But I am glad that podiatry is getting more selective, and it will be certainly, just like any other medical professions.

Does anyone know if schools have seen an increase in apps compared to last year at this point in the cycle? Would love to hear # of apps are up for all the schools!

I got scholarships to all schools as well, just to prove to those worried about low MCAT scores. If you have a high enough GPA you will get in and get a scholarship!

An update, interviewed at and just accepted to Barry. . I'm waiting to hear back from Kent and have an interview at DMU Friday. I really, really liked Kent State so if I get accepted there it will be a really tough decision leaving the Florida sun for Ohio. And I still have to see about DMU this week.

Congrats!! I got accepted to Barry yesterday as well!!

So you liked Kent better than Barry? I kind of overlooked Kent but I might be willing to reconsider them.

Not going to lie, Kent's big draw is their facility. You'll get a great education at either school though!

Yeah I did like Kent better. I just got accepted today to Kent! The only thing is Barry offered me a much higher scholarship than Kent. :/. I still felt like Kent was a better fit for me, but now I have to make a choice. #firstworldproblems

Just got my MCAT mark back, didn't do as well as I hoped. 22 I had practiced a lot and was getting higher marks, 30's. Not sure if I should apply now or rewrite it once more. Have an OK GPA of 3.1. Based on the averages posted on the AACPM website I stand a good chance, however I do not feel like the 22 represents me well enough. I got a 5, 8, and 9. I actually was practicing with a higher score in PS.

What were ur sectional breakdowns? 22 is smack dab average for majority of schools.....I don't think it would be worthwhile to take another exam, wait till scores released then apply....at least not for the fall semester. Ur looking at another 2 month turnaround before applying. That would mean may?

You'll be fine. Apply broadly. If you don't like the interview invites you can take the MCAT again.

I got 5 PS 8 VR 9 BS. That is true, it is unfortunate that the 5 sticks out like a sore thumb. My practice tests showed that PS was my forte, guess it wasn't.
But I will apply next week, waiting for my references to free up. Also need to finish up the personal statement.
I am leaning towards Barry, Kent State, and Scholl right now. May apply to a few more. Also I will apply to some SMPs

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I am worried due to the high stats posted on the forum VS those on the AACPM page. Should trust the latter.

There are many who don't post their stats on the forum so I would assume that the averages are about the same as last year.

What's it looking like for 2.6, 26N MCAT? I just completed and I'm hoping for the best.

It's going to be tough since it's late in the cycle, most schools are going to start seeing a rise in apps as MD/DO hopefuls start looking for other options. A 2.6 GPA isn't going to help either, again it's late so it's becoming a numbers game, but the 26 MCAT might put you over the top. Your best shot would be getting into schools with larger class sizes, ie Kent Scholl and Temple. How are you ECs and LORs looking?
