Default General Surgery Auditions

SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads)
Currently a 3rd year looking to set up audition rotations for general surgery in PA, NJ, NY and surrounding areas.

Does anyone have any opinions on where the best places to apply are, board score cut offs, general tips.

Currently middle of my class, 506 comlex 1, good letter of rec, couple honors passes, 1 research paper published. Set up rotations with PCOM and pinnacle so far.

Thinking about signing up to take USMLE 1 any opinion on that would be appreciated as well.

Bunch of places in NYC...see the aoa opportunities website. I know some people with 450 500 comlex that did well in the surg match in michigan but they really gunned for it. Look at the msu affiliated hospitals, its not the NE but they're good programs, and Detroit isnt too far away, plus you get great training.

Anytime you show up to an audition rotation, you want to have a good base knowledge of that field. Make sure you are reading something everyday (starting now) for gen surg. As long as you're personable and know what you're talking about, you'll be fine.
