On April 9 2014 Obama admin released 2012 medicare payment data for physicians .

Ophthalmologist and oncologist got highest payments as some chemo drug included in payments

There are several discussions on sdn on this topic but I'm creating this thread/discussion for oncology specifically

Wallstreet journal created this software to look at each physician medicare payment

http://projects.wsj.com/medicarebilling/?standalone=1

Each physician in below little rock (carti.com) oncology practice got 3-8 million $ while other full time oncologist in little rock got 300-500k in 2012

That practice physicians are listed here.

http://www.carti.com/physicians/

I'm in oncology practice for a year but can't understand why so much difference? In payments made from medicare among diff physicians. Oncologist can't say that all chemo was billed on his name as all oncologists in this practice got paid millions

I know data is raw and likely include some useless info like oncology physician paid for CBC, cmp and labs (which goes to lab overhead) likely some drug cost is included as well as overhead but why so much difference in same speciality in same city (little rock arksnsas for example) among different oncologists...

Please share your thoughts practicing oncologists

This new data release will create hate for physicians and will lead to more law suites as common man will think this is dr compensation which it's not and it's too complication for even physicians to understand ,not sure what public will learn from this raw data dump
