So excited!! Nothing like actually matching to pedo, and matching to my #1 choice is just the icing on the cake :) It is thrilling and I feel so fortunate. So far I know 6 of us from my class matched to pedo, hoping everyone will post their stats here for future use! Is my Geisinger co-resident out there somewhere? Can't wait to meet you! Congrats to all the future pediatric dentists out there! :)

For future applicants... I think good LORs are the key to success. I got my letters from faculty who knew me very well, and the topic of my great recommendations came up at multiple interviews.

Congratulations Pedo4me. You set a good example for others to follow!!

Hi every one. Congrats to all of those who got accepted to the program
I am an international dentist, have experience of over 5 yrs
I wanted to apply to Pedo residency, but I don't know
anything about the procedure. What I read from aapd website is that they accept
applications through both Pass and Match program. I don't know what's the difference
if I apply through pass rather than Match. Can any one please guide me?
Thank you

They are actually 2 different things. PASS is the service that you use to send out your applications electronically (it's very similar to the AADSAS system you use when applying to dental school). MATCH is the service that actually matches you with a program at the end of the application process.

Congratulations to everyone else who matched!!!
To future applicants, I only ranked 2 out of the programs I interviewed at and everyone told me I was crazy. It was a risky move, but it worked out well for me :) I'm not telling anyone to do it, but I'm just saying, that as Pedo4Me pointed out, if it's meant to be, it'll work out! Otherwise, you can always try again! Time flies by anyway!

International Student (yes/no): no
GPR: Yes (C/O 2013)
NBDE Part I/II / NBME scores: 86/85
Class Ranking: N/A
Match/Non-Match: match
Externship(s)/where: VA Hospital and St. Christophers
Research: Tons in undergrad, and in dental school (3 years total)
Extracurriculars: what everyone else has done...held positions on both a local and national level.
Programs Applied to/Interview Invites/Interviews attended/Programs Ranked: 19/14/14/13 (one program was non-match, which I had an offer to, however declined)

I matched at my #1 program and am utterly blessed :). If you are on here regularly, you might know that this was my second time applying to peds. To all those who did not match this cycle, PLEASE DON'T FRET. Trust me, I know how difficult it is to keep your head held high, especially in the midst of your colleagues matching. Pediatrics is the #1 most applied to SPECIALTY in recent years, check out the match statistics. It's becoming very common, if not the norm for many applicants to have to apply 2+ times before being successful. Roll with the punches and don't give up on your dream. Do a GPR/AGED/public health etc, work in a pediatric focused office, basically beef up your credentials, and you will certainly see a difference in the number of interviews you receive.

I wish everyone a successful career and congrats to us all, as we are bound to make our dreams come true.

Hello Everyone,
I'm interested in applying for the 2014 cycle. I was wondering for those who have taken the NBDE after 2012, are the actual scores ever reported through the PASS program? Or is it just P/F that is reported?

Does the dental school one attends play an important role in matching result? Thanks
