2014-2015 September - November Completed Applicants Thread

Hello SDN,

I wanted to start a thread for those applicants who will be complete with at least one school between the months of September - November. I know most people on SDN who will be complete this late are going to fall in the month of September for a number of reasons: Late Committee Letter, August MCAT, etc.

Specifically, I want to use this opportunity to gather data of how many applicants who are complete during these months receive interview invites (IIs), acceptances, waitlists, and when. I have not found a thread like this on SDN and AAMC does not publish acceptance % by verified date. Plus, there's a big difference between verified date and completed date.

This thread is not to gauge at acceptances for specific schools. There are other threads on SDN that provide that information. I know the number of users on SDN with completions this late will be few but any sort of data is better than no data. Those of you who will be complete during these months, don't be shy and please share your info. You have the chance to show statistically how it is like to apply this late. Thanks!

You are probably right. But, I've read many anecdotes of people submitting October and getting acceptances. So, I would like to verify it with as long a list as SDN users can generate.

Yes complete early October to early November and got one interview. This cycle I have a more or less the same app but I applied early and presented myself a lot better. Things are quite different this cycle

I wouldn't consider first week of September completions exceptionally late, especially for competitive applicants.

Maybe you were held back last year due to stats? October does seem very late though.

Check my MDApps for the stats you're welcome to interpret them as you will although it's a bit out of date. As for the overall competitiveness of my app I spoke with more than a few schools who said my late complete date was the major hindrance to my app.

Either way this cycle is going better than last so I'm not as concerned anymore about the content of my app.

No, I definitely do think an October complete date is really late and hurt your application.
I'm happy to hear you're doing better this cycle though. If I have to reapply, I will also make sure all my stuff is in earlier so I don't have to wait around forever for my committee letter.

What makes you say that?

Of course the later you are, the worse off you are. But I asked some adcom members on SDN and they said that being complete in the very first week of September, while not early, still means you're not completely screwed and there should still be plenty of interview slots left. This is taking into account of my stats, which are right in the median ranges of the schools I applied too. I imagine if stats were not on par with at least the school medians, a September completion date can kill the application.
