So sorry to see you on here @starfun21! Just remember how amazing you are because we all know it! You are going to end up at a wonderful place that deserves your fabulousness! I'm sending one big virtual hug!
Received a rejection from Johns Hopkins last Friday. Possibly of interest (since their website is slightly vague about the possibility of MD-only, at least it was to me): they sent me a letter telling me they were unable to offer me an MD/PhD position, but asked me my permission to forward my application on to the traditional MD program.
This was a bit soul-crushing since I loved their MD/PhD program, but it was nice of them to offer to forward my application on!
Also, forgot to add UNC earlier.

@jellybones, you mind posting that email? You've piqued my curiosity (also, no one on the "MD-only" circuit has mentioned being out of interview spots). Though "most uncouth rejection" for me goes to Vandy...
"It has been the largest Baylor MSTP application pool in history and so we are not able to offer interviews to all of the deserving applicants. At this time we have sent invitations for our last interview date.
The Medical School has also sent invitations for their last interview date."
Hm. A leading sentence starting with "it is with great regret to inform you..." Would have been nice, even if cliché or disingenuous. I suppose At least they are to the point...?
The beauty is I have stopped feeling much of anything at this point in the process, and I must confess: it is delightful!(actually that's a lie; when things go well, I am happy, but occasionally I find myself annoyed with bad news). I have come to the conclusion that for a job which requires nearly a decade of training, the institutions which provide such training are not exactly a beacon of exemplary scholarly professionalism. And one wonders why the system falters...
Thanks for indulging me! This whole application process is a bit of a circus!
As you (or one of our many wise colleagues) have stated previously: in a few months, we will all be settled in to our programs and thriving. That day can't come soon enough!
Awww, I'm so sorry about your terrible day. I certainly understand how you feel. I have been and still am in the same boat (looks like all of my hopes are down to one school now - unless a miracle occurs from one of my last couple of silences). When I got my post interview rejection, I emailed the director and asked for constructive feedback and she actually set up a call with me and told me what the school's issue was with me. Maybe you could try that before your last interview (could give you some good insight.....at least couldn't hurt). Good luck, we are all here routing for you!@ImmunoLove @nmusdposter @starfun21 Thank you for being so supportive! I just wish there was some transparency on the interview process and how decisions are made post-interview! I have one interview left next month that I really care about, and it's unsettling to perceive that an interview visit went perfectly only to be rejected soon after.
I received a Baylor rejection yesterday too, but I never actually submitted a secondary to them. I think it was just the cherry on top of an awful day (I also broke my phone yesterday!)
So it was post-interview? I wonder if Hopkins doesn't send people to MD-only unless it's post-interview. But then, do they have to interview you again?
Either way, I'm gonna say congrats. And it sounds like you'll probably have a ton of good MD/PhD options, too.
Sure, I just did not bother to call them... just another thought: I'd say very high chance the website means we are rejected.... but I may still call tomorrow just in case since the website has been off before (twice it has been updated and been off).
