Ugh -- sorry to hear that final decisions are going to be delayed for @xTheCrowingx , @gastro426 & @MSTPtastic. I know it is frustrating, but hang in there -- I am sure these will turn into positive results for you soon!

Oh man!!! I am so sorry to see you posting here again @Sreltraln. I know and imagine that it is so frustrating to not get concrete news!!!! BUT I have to believe that 4 waitlists is an objectively wonderful thing at this point in the cycle. One of those is bound to turn into an acceptance!! It just has to, right?! You are far too awesome for that not to be the case... and I think we have the additional benefit of probability and statistics being on our side here!

Keep hanging in there, my friend. I will cheer for you now with extra force and vigor! WOOOO GO SRELTRALN GO!!!!

UAB -- but the email said I am one of the top 5 on the waitlist and that based on previous years, there is an "excellent chance" I will receive an offer in the next ~2 months.

I am not completely celebrating yet and I am doing my best to be carefully reserved about it, but I have such an adrenaline rush from being so close at this point. I know all of us have worked really hard to even be applying today, and I am just so honored to be feeling like those efforts are going to pay off. I am so full of all of the emotions (sorry to anyone within a near radius of my school) and have been both devastated but also hopeful and also relieved, and mainly just in shock. I think I'm gonna make it... It's not there yet but I'm so close!!!

Fingers absolutely crossed for all of my good buddies also waiting to hear from UAB. Wishing you all the very best.

I always like calling in situations like these. There's less likely to be a record of it if there's a problem, and you can ask the question first ("Do you share approximate waitlist positions with waitlisted applicants?") without giving any personal information.

Edit: I don't think there would be an issue anyway. It seems like an important question to ask about, as long as you don't take offense if they say no.

I know the feeling @medicalhopeful09. The good news is that we have a great group of future physician-scientists in this year's cycle and I know that those that really don't think that Penn State is right for them will definitely withdraw to give deserving candidates like you a shot! Keep your spirits up!

Really happy it's not a rejection (I'm trying so hard to see the silver lining), but I've never wanted something so much. If you look on Penn portal there are no tiers of waitlist and it looks like we wouldn't hear for a long time unfortunately.

Cool just wanted to confirm because historically they have sent second look invites to some waitlisters. I agree it really sucks that we have to wait until May/June and send even more updates. Time to start giving up on penn...

I'll be crossing all of my fingers and toes for you and for JELLYYYYY and hoping for the best news for you soon. My heart sank when I read both of your posts because I can just feel how much you both want this and it's killing me that today's news wasn't completely as hoped. I don't know if it helps, but I was chatting with one of the deans there when I was interviewing (I should remember his name... he had optional meetings?) and he mentioned somewhere during the conversation that they have almost always gone into the waitlist. So I think there's a good chance! I obviously am not the one to ask but I don't think it'd hurt to write to them and reaffirm your interest?
 
@Penguin33 After my interview in Feb, I sent them a "letter of intent" (Yale truly is my dream school) so I'm not sure what more I can do. But you're probably right that it doesn't hurt to reaffirm that interest in the next couple weeks!

And a big thank you to you and @BR2016 for not holding on to waitlist positions without reason! I really hope that it shakes out that everyone ends up where they'll be the most happy :)
