Hey everyone, new to SDN.

I'm a white applicant, applying for 2015-2016. As noted, I have 3.78 sGPA, 3.81 cGPA, and a 28 MCAT (9/9/10). I have a long history and interest in underserved urban communities (where I am at for undergrad definitely is one), and I have strong volunteer/service work with those communities, starting a health program for younger people. I'm covered for clinical experience and have lab and clinical research experience (no publications). I'm an NY resident from a top 60ish private school. My biggest concern is my MCAT for applying for MD schools, but I want to know my chances at HBU's like Howard (top choice) as well as general chances for MD schools.

My advisor mentioned this cycle being more GPA-focused with two MCAT test styles floating around? It's just a theory. I'm open to MD and DO, but would prefer MD.

Schools on my list:
Albany Medical College
Albert Einstein (long-shot)
Rosalind Franklin
Cooper Medical School at Rowan
Creighton
Drexel
GW
Howard
Loyola
MCW
NYMC
Penn State
Rush
SLU
Jefferson
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY Upsate
SUNY Downstate
SUNY Stonybrook
Temple
Tufts
VCU
UVM
Wake Forest
West Virginia

Your list is good but delete West Virginia and Cooper since they would take very few OOS applicants with your stats. Schools you could add include:
Quinnipiac
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Commonwealth (PA)
Any private MD schools that open in 2016
Also consider applying to at least 10 DO schools since there is no guarantee for MD admission. Your stats are competitive for most DO schools.

Thanks! I did not realize Cooper had such an in-state preference. I'll definitely be applying to DO schools as well this cycle; top choice currently is PCOM (since I'm also from the east coast).
