How does that work exactly and has anyone here ever done it? I was trying to figure out the math... seven 8 hour shifts is only 56 hours/2 weeks but seven 12 hour shifts is 84 hours/2 weeks. Is it usually 12 hours a shift or a combination of both? During the week you have off, did you pick up overtime hours?

10 hour shift. You end up working 70 hours per pay period. The trick is what day the shift starts. If the shift starts on Monday and ends on Sunday, you work 60 hours that week (pay perido) with 20 hours of over time where you get paid 1.5X. This translates to 30 hours therefor 70 hours of pay. Then you got the Sunday which is 10 hours... so work 70 hours and get paid for 80. (Work 60 hours one week and 10 hours(sunday) the next = 80 hours paid)

This is a payroll period game which benefits 7 on 7 off pharmacist. For graveyard shift, shift differential is $6 per hour on weekdays and $10 per hour on Weekends for us. You do the math.

For less friendly employers, they have the 7 on 7 off shift start on Wednesday... which ends up being 40 hours one week and 30 hours the next...no overtime. So you work 70 and get paid for 70. Don't do it.

At the Walgreens stores here the overnight pharmacists work Monday-Sunday with 10 hour shifts Mon-Fri and 11 hour shifts on the weekend. They work 72 hours but get paid for 80.

At the hospital I work at the night pharmacists do Wednesday-Tuesday 11pm-730 am. They only get 56 hours of pay but they make an extra 25% for working overnight.

There are lots of different ways to do 7 on 7 off but everywhere is different.
