If you plan to go into academic medicine does it matter where you do your Prelim/TY? Would it be a detriment in finding an academic job if you did a cushier prelim/TY or does it not matter? Obviously, this question is specifically for specialties with advanced residencies (derm, rads, etc.). Thanks.

I can't imagine it would make much/any difference. You're going to find an academic job based on the strength of your work in residency/fellowship, not which hospital you chose to write insulin sliding scale orders in.
