Administrative duties or lack thereof

I wanted to get some feedback here regarding administrative duties (serving on committees, going to meetings, having titles etc.). It has never appealed to me and i don't find it interesting at all, my experience is it's basically people talking and talking, not much getting done, I'm sure they have good motives but I actually find it "easier" to work a shift than to go to meetings.

It seems like they are paying the members in my group who are doing these kinds of duties extra which makes sense, but just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same about these kinds of things as me. I don't have any desire to move up the ladder, to me it seems like you can do very well just kind of cruising along.
