Read Yalom's The Gift of Therapy. It's more slanted to therapists than psychiatrists, but still very relevant.

Like it, OPD.

I really enjoyed reading that blog OldPsychDoc, thank you. Any other advice from Psychiatrists for soon-to-be interns or already practicing residents?

Wow, that's incredibly actionable advice! Thank you for the share.

Has anybody heard of or read The Last Psychiatrist?

Brilliant article!

And now I want to read that book nitemagi recommended (I so need to book a trip to the library). I've been reading some of David Mann's work of late as well, at least what limited amounts I can get hold of, fascinating insights into the therapeutic process and alliance from both sides of the table.

Is he still blogging? He used to get linked pretty regularly on here. But it's been awhile.

No, I stumbled across that blog a little late. Although the blogger never poses solutions to the problems presented, I love the cynicism and style.

One of the best blog posts I've read in a long time - I'm going to bookmark it.
