Why does the AED only shock v-fib or pulseless v-tach? I know their are other shockable rhythms but, I don't understand why the automated device doesn't respond to them.

I'm guessing they mean "cardiovert" not defib.
the reason aed's don't cardiovert is they can't make the decision of stable vs unstable which is required before considering cardioversion. in stable pts with svt, rapid afib, or vtach with a pulse, medication therapy is generally the first line intervention.
