For Anyone who has taken the Alabama MPJE in 2015 , do you have any advice on preparation? Thank you in advance! !!

You should know following state specific information:

Know about the Board.
- Number of members and the term length (five years).
- Note that AL BOP does not have any public members.
- AL BOP members are limited to two terms only.
- Duties and responsibilities.
- Is there any formulary? - NONE for AL
- Note that AL BOP requires all pharmacists members must be actively practicing.
- Note that AL BOP members cannot serve consecutively.
- Who appoints the members? - Governor only
- Know the member qualifications
Know the exam requirements for MPJE/NAPLEX
- know the licensure requirements
- Validity of exam results for a score transfer - 1 year in AL
Know the internship hours
- intern requirements (1500 hours)
- intern duties (especially allowed to vaccinate or not, or allowed to perform DUR, allowed to do counseling)
- practical experience requirements.
- internship recognition starts from first professional year in AL.
- is the preceptor required to register? - Yes
- is the training place required to register? - Yes
- foreign pharmacist's requirements
Know the following facts about a pharmacist license:
- licensure age: applicant must be at least 19 years old.
- There are not temporary licenses in AL
- criminal history: The board does not check criminal history
- renewal period: two years
- expiry date: Dec 31st (notified in Sept)
- CE requirements: 15 hours
- disciplinary actions by the board
Know the license transfer requirements
- reciprocity qualifications
- reciprocity requirements
Pharmacy technicians
- required to be registered? -YES
- required to be certified? - NO
- required to be licensed? - NO
- renewal period: every two years
- CE requirements (3 hours/year)
- Do they require training? - NO
- Do they require to take an exam? - NO
- Pharmacist:Tech ratio - 1 to 3 (only if PTCB certified)
- Minimum age requirement: 17 years
- Duties (not allowed to take a new script, etc.)
- Duties in the absence of a pharmacist

- Nonresident pharmacists are NOT required to be licensed/registered with AL BOP.
- Internet pharmacists - not required to be VIPPS accreditation (NABP).
- Display of licenses/hours
- Badge of pharmacists/techs/interns
- Nuclear pharmacy requirements
- Labeling requirements
Wholesale distributors
- Nonprescription drug distributors
- Prescription devices distributors
- Out-of-state distributors
- Separate license for a wholesaler for a manufacturer? - NO for AL
- require VAWD? - NO for AL
Schedules of drugs
- go to DEA's website
- remember those are different from the federal standards (go to www.adph.org)
- quantity limitations
- Laws related to ephedrine products
- medical oxygen laws if any
Substitution laws
- Label requirements
