AMCAS Application Update

I submitted AMCAS on July 5th and still haven't been verified.

I recently heard back that a research abstract I submitted was accepted for a conference and I noticed that AMCAS had an 'update application' tab. If I submit an application update, will I be able to update the activity in AMCAS? Will it push me to the back of the pile or will I hold my place?

I searched and couldn't really find much about this.

You cannot add work/activities after submission. That's not what the update application tab is for. Read the AMCAS instruction manual, specifically the section called "post-submission changes" to find out what can be changed after submission.

You'll need to update each school individually by sending them a letter or email.
