Hey folks,

I had a question for all of you who had the necessary research qualifications in medical school to be competitive for neurosurgery. I see many residents in Top 40 NIH institutions that have had some sort of publications involving experimentation on mice or other small animals. Is this pretty much a given for anyone with ambitions for a career in neurosurgery?

No. Don't you also see many residents who don't have publications in those areas?
