Another diversity essay post

So I'm working on my diversity essay, but I think I addressed my best topic for it in my personal statement. I have an international experience (where I have dual citizenship so I have spent a lot of time there) and was thinking I could talk about the conflicts between science and tradition in the country. A local pediatrician taught me about respecting beliefs even when they are not supported by evidence. My worry is that talking about international experiences would seem like pandering. Is cultural competence a bad topic for diversity essays?
