Hello all,

I have sent my application in for verification last week and now I want to start adding some schools.
CA Resident, 21 years old
Undergrad at UC San Diego, Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Neuroscience
AMCAS: 3.7cGPA and 3.52 sGPA
AACOMAS: 3.7cGPA and 3.49 sGPA

MCAT:
1st try: Physical Sciences: 10 (79%ile), Verbal Reasoning: 5(15%ile), Biological Sciences: 10 (76%ile) = 25
2nd try: Chem/Phys: 127 (79%ile), Critical Analysis: 126 (70%ile), Biloogical Sciences: 127 (77%ile), Psych: 127 (75%ile) = 507 (74%ile)

Diverse extracurricular activity participation
100 hours of clinical/shadowing, will have more than 300 hours by matriculation
3 years of research
Some leadership
Average/above average LORs
Heavy course load all 4 years

Possible red flags:
Very low Verbal subscore on 1st MCAT w/o any explanation
Submitting primary/secondaries “late” (i.e.: “not early”) (I should be "complete" at all schools by late August)
Won’t have my DO Shadowing letter until late August

MD Schools:
Albany
Albert Einstein
Rosalind Franklin
Cooper
Creighton
Drexel
Dartmouth
George Washington
Georgetown
Eastern Virginia
Hofstra
Loma Linda
Medical College of Wisconsin
NYMC
Indiana University
Pennsylvania State
Rush Medical College
Kimmel Medical College (Thomas Jefferson)

UC Riverside
Morehouse
Stony Brook
Temple
Tuland

DO Schools (in order of preference):
Touro-CA
PCOM
Touro-NY
NYITCOM
AZCOM
LECOM-SH
ATSU-SOMA (love their CHC program)
Western
Nova

What schools should I add/delete? Any advice, suggestions, or comments are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

If you have a lifetime commitment of service to the African American community, keep Morehouse.
If you live to serve Christ keep, Loma Linda.
If you have a validated commitment to serve the IE, keep UCR.

Delete Stony Brook (10th% is 30 MCAT).
Delete Hofstra (10th% is 30).
Delete Dartmouth (not quirky enough).

I agree with @gyngyn. Brown is also a far reach and Indiana and Cooper accept very few OOS applicants with your MCAT. Schools you could add where you have a chance for an interview:
Quinnipiac
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
California Northstate
Loyola
St. Louis
You should be fine for DO schools and should receive some DO interviews.

That's a phenomenal verbal improvement. Second all the above advice on schools(just don't bother with Northstate)

gyngyn hit the nail on the head here

Would also recommend deleting Brown as it is 1) a reach and 2) interviews only 3% of their total applicant pool

Thank you gyngyn for your input. I really appreciate it.
I didn't think I had much of a chance with MD schools but I'm going to try my best and apply smart.
Hopefully I get some DO interviews too.

I couldn't even find CA Northstate on AMCAS. Definitely don't plan on applying there.
Any other advice is appreciated.
