There will be a small disadvantage since program directors won't be as familiar with the school. But I do know of many students from newer schools who still managed to match very well
Yes, the lack of familiarity can hurt, especially if you're trying to get into a top program or highly competitive field. However, if you do well in school and get strong board scores you'll still have a lot of great opportunities. Going to a new school and doing well won't hurt nearly as much as going to an established school and barely scraping by.
