Any point in going over old textbooks if one has access to as many of the prep books out there as needed? Do they really cover everything that will be on MCAT?

The prep books cover everything on the MCAT that will not be explained to you in a passage. Studying textbooks is a huge waste of time.

I used textbooks for some of the subjects (I think for bio and gen chem). Main reason was because I didn't like the test prep books for those. I ending up with a high score so it worked for me but YMMV.

If your going to use textbooks, the trick is being able to distinguish between what you need and don't need. Follow the AAMC topics list would be my suggestion if your looking to supplement with textbooks.

You can use textbooks alongside the outline but I think that would be a pain honestly. Alternatively, you can use prep books and keep your textbooks as a reference if something isn't clear.
