I am applying for an F30, and some of the institutes publish their paylines / impact score cut offs from previous years, to give you an idea of what your score means. Has anybody applied for an F30 in the last 5 or so years (since the scores changed to 1-9 x 10) who would be willing to offer their score and whether or not they were funded?
Thanks!

Bump. Does anyone have any info on cutoffs for the different agencies?

Looking at the NIH Reporter, it's incredible how many more grants are put out from some than others. I would like to put in an F30 this cycle, and my project would probably be best for the NIBIB (Bioengineering), but there's only 1 active project funded right now...... so I'm guessing it would be more strategic to go somewhere else?

I do not know what the cutoffs might be, but here is the data on F30 awards for FY2014:

Agency / Applied / Awarded / Success Rate / Total Cost
NCI / 93 / 40 / 43.0% / $1,533,961
NHGRI /1 / 1 / 100.0% / $35,110
NHLBI / 68 / 22 / 32.4% / $876,399
NIA / 23 / 7 / 30.4% /$245,529
NIAAA / 4 / 2 / 50.0% / $76,928
NIAID / 75 / 25 /33.3% /$970,727
NIAMS /24 / 6 / 25.0% /$229,411
NICHD / 8 /2 /25.0% /$68,762
NIDA / 10 / 4 /40.0% /$121,840
NIDCD / 10 / 8 / 80.0% /$303,170
NIDCR / 12 / 7 / 58.3% /$309,856
NIDDK /45 /22 /48.9% /$794,858
NIEHS /8 /1 /12.5% /$47,612
NIMH /38 / 14 / 36.8% /$493,541
NINDS /6 / 5 / 83.3% /$203,217
Total /425 /166 /39.1% /$6,310,921

F31 awards, by contrast, were more numerous (531), but the success rate was only 28.2%

I was a member of the NINDS fellowship study section. They made the change from F30 to F31. They restarted the F30 program but not embracing it. Dr. Landis was never a fan of the mechanism. She once told me they told me that I need to restart the F30 program but didn't tell me how many to fund. The program officer, Dr. Korn, was instrumental in pushing for the F30 to F31 switch. There is a new NINDS director. I don't know his position on F30s.

NINDS is back! The number for new awards 2014 was only 5, but it jumped to 20 for 2015. This compares with an average of 25 a year from 2005 to 2010. None were awarded from 2010 to 2013. It appears NINDS did increase F31's from a average of 90 for the period 2005 to 2010, to 140(!) in 2011 (the year they suspended the F30). The number dropped back to 95 in 2012, 105 in 2013, 96 in 2014 and 79 in 2015.
