Hey guys! Just created an account to see who got accepted to Kent State's podiatry school and who will be attending there next fall (fall of 2015). I actually live like 35 min away (tho i am definitely not living at home for med school) I'm close by so if anyone needs to ask about anything about interviews or the beautiful city of Cleveland.. lol im here to help! Just curious to see who I'll be with for the next 4 yrs!

Definitely interested in Kent! I have my interview next week and I feel a decent shot at getting in.
Just a few questions:

Any tips or advice on the interview?

What sold you on the school (other than being a local)?

Where will you live? I don't see many housing options in Independence. It seems like it'll be a bit of a commute. How is the driving situation in the snowy months? Are the roads maintained? Will a 4 wheel drive be needed?

Unrelated.. My gf and I will be there for two days for my interview, any advice on something fun to do?

Thanks!!

I put down my deposit yesterday. I got in to all the schools I interviewed but for some reason my mind just kept coming back to Kent so I went with it.
Do you know much about the area surrounding the school? I am married and have two young children and we will be moving there from Idaho. I am wondering if there are areas that you would NOT recommend for us to live in? When I was there, all I really saw was Independence (which seems nice and safe) and the airport and didn't have a chance to see what the areas were like surrounding the school. I want my family to feel comfortable while I am at school for a few years.

One positive about Kent State's podiatry school that I found out the day before I went on a visit there in the summer was that it isn't located anywhere near Kent State's actual undergrad campus. It is 30 miles north of the Kent State campus (40 to 45 minute drive) and just 10 miles south of the heart of Cleveland.

15 minute drive to Quicken Loans Arena to watch the Cavs play, if your girlfriend and you like sports...and a casino is right next door.

Interview isnt bad at all. they want you to be yourself so just relax and talk about things that interest you! They aren't trying to bash you and see how you react, they just want to know what you are like and what you will bring to their campus.
their research labs and their cadaver lab is one of the best i've seen around. Not even temple university could compete with that (there's was in a dark basement). and i realized i love the more suburban life than a realy hectic city like philly.. i could never study out there!
Since i am close by, my parents were thinking of buying a cheap house around independence, fixing it up over the summer and living there with maybe 1 or 2 roommates i find. (my dad flips houses on the side so this is ideal for us haha). but if that doesn't happen my first year, most likely i'll live in the suggested apartments they offer in parma or north royalton. For a family i would most likely stay in those two areas as well, some parts of cleveland are rough and until you get a good feel for where you want to go, parma and north royalton are your best bets.
commute from those places is probably 20 min max. snow you will just have to get used to haha but it isnt too bad the cities do a pretty good job at keeping them clear.
there are some nice restaurants that are around especially in cleveland on east 4th. go walk around the city if it isnt too cold!

I interviewed on Oct 20 at KSUCPM and have not heard back from them. Does Kent contact you by email or phone or should I assume my acceptance letter got lost in the mail.

I got an email and letter in the mail. I would contact the admissions and see what's up. Was everything turned in (updated MCAT, LORs)?

Yes, I received an email Nov 7 saying that they received all of my application materials.

I heard back in about one and a half weeks by email then they sent me a letter a few days later. I would have a follow up call with them to see why you havent heard back from them yet.

Hello,

Interviewed on November 7th and have still not heard back. I left Carla a voicemail a few days back and still have not heard anything? Do you guys have any advice on what I should do next?

Does anybody know the timeline for after their interview? For example, how long did it take to hear back via email about an admissions decision?

Thanks!

Usually a week. I was kind of getting hints from them that I would be accepted during the interview, but I'm sure everyone's interview is a bit different. I got the email about 6 days later and a letter in the mail about a week and a half later. hope that helps!

Kent is the only school I've applied to, so far, and is by far my top choice. Just applied on Tuesday. Here's hoping!!

I got accepted to Kent but I am still considering Scholl because it's closest to where my parents now live. Can anyone please offer some thoughts about why they chose Kent, especially over Scholl? I really loved what Kent has to offer and the overall feel of the campus, so I'm pretty sold on Kent.

All I'm gonna say is the Holiday Inn next door has live music on a Wednesday night in their restaurant. +1

I've decided to go with my gut and stick with Kent. Has anybody started looking into what the apartments are like around campus?

I just received an email today that I was put on the alternate list for the class of 2019. A final decision will be made in early spring. Still waiting on decision on scholl as I interviewed there this past Monday and then have interview at Barry on the Monday coming up. Really like Kent though and want to go there!

Hey everybody,

I've heard amazing things about KSUCPM and I'm fortunate enough to have an interview this friday! Any advice regarding the interview?

I recently graduated from Kent. There were many of us who did not get a residency after graduating with over 250,000 in dept. You should take a closer look at the school before you decide to attend. There were a lot of students that I went to school with that dropped out after the first semester or got kicked out after the first year. Speak with more people on these forums before you decide to go. The school will lie to you're face or not provide you with the truth.

I am strongly considering Kent as well. Can you elaborate a bit more on how the school went wrong? Why did students drop out and get kicked out? Are the professors hard to learn from? How do you feel about your education from Kent? Thanks for any additional comments/advice/input you have.

Hey everybody,

I interviewed at Kent last week and was just accepted yesterday. The interview day was really laid back and informative. The dean gave an introduction speech and then we had a tour lead by students. Tons of opportunities to ask questions. Later there was a "panel" of students to answer any other questions we had/provide additional answers to previous questions and lunch with students. The day ended with financial aid and housing presentations. The interviews were spread throughout the day and were really laid back. For me, it was less stressful than New York and Scholl.

so my advice: have a few questions ready and wear comfy shoes.
Good luck!!

Did anybody that interviewed on April 17th hear back yet?

I received an email on April 25th with an update on my application saying that a decision was made, but they haven't sent me anything since then to tell me what the actual decision is. Makes me kind of nervous....

How long after that email did you receive acceptance?
