You know I hate to make an overly general statement because everyone is different but as far as MCAT studying goes, I can't see a situation where study groups would be useful. The fact of the matter is that everyone has different weaknesses and strengths and everyone needs their own time to focus on whatever they're weak in.
Most of your study time (70%) should be devoted to doing practice problems, reviewing practice problems, doing and review FLs. I don't really see study groups helping in that situation either.
