I added your blog as well, SS. :)

Thanks!!!!! :)

Anyone else come across A Cartoon Guide to Becoming a Doctor?

That is pretty cool!

Hey SS... No need to stalk me. Just come hang out awhile. :D

:ninja: Too late, haha!

I don't know how you do it with five little ones! Although, I know that when I am having a difficult time, it is my children who make me smile.

This. :D I know they are proud of me. That helps. Also I know that I want to set the proper example for them. Most parents tell their children that they can be whatever they want to be in life, yet few actually believe what they are saying. I want my actions to speak louder than my words. In the end, I want them to be better overall people than I am. That's my Christmas wish. :)

Exactly. I'm proud of my sons who want to do their "homework" next to me when I do mine. I feel that it sets an example of life-long learning. Our children will grow up knowing that school is not just a thing for kids and that sometimes it take some hard work to realize dreams.

I hope that our children grow up happy, healthy, and self-fulfilled.

Well, I guess that they have little choice in the matter. Tiger mother says, "docta or engineer!" j/k

I have two, the first being an actual blog where I talk about myself and my path to medical school, and the second one being a compilation of posts, threads, articles, etc relating to getting into medical school and residency, with no input from me whatsoever. Here they are:

Hey everyone! I'm a non-trad blogger, but I'm matriculating into a PT program. Here's the link if anyone's interested in reading about a nerdy, weekend warrior's thoughts as they wade through the program: http://earningthedpt.wordpress.com

Thanks!

LOL @ weekend warrior- you aren't alone, although I am still undergrad. Not sure I will re-up through medschool.

I have tried to keep a chronicle of my journey thru med school. Need to make an entry but am too darn busy!!!

Hey all,

Took two years off after graduating from college to work in a lab, decided biomed research wasn't for me; planning on applying to medical school while studying in a masters program at a medical school in New York - decided to keep a blog of my exploits in my so-called "gap year" as well as the application process itself; will be applying in June 2013 for entry Fall 2014. Check out my blog!

having a giant wall of text as your first post is very off-putting

Considering starting a blog of my own.. mostly for myself since making SDN threads just to share my excitement (like my "Verified!" thread) are completely pointless.

Anything I should know beforehand?

How'd you do on your real MCAT?

Yeah... Just make sure to write for yourself. If you are writing for other people, you won't keep it up. If you truly want to just write as a therapeutic release for yourself, you will find it quite enjoyable. It's also interesting to read older posts that you created to see how you have changed. I find that things that stressed me out before, would be much easier to handle now for instance. If you decide to do it, good luck and have fun.

Hi, yes, I began my blog on a mobile device and it did not save the spaces I put between paragraphs. Will have to edit it from an actual computer at some point....thanks for checking it out!

Oh it's definitely something I want to do for myself, but I also think it may benefit others who are in a similar situation to read what I've done and how I've handled all of it. I was truley inspired by a number of the SDNer blogs and I hope mine can help at least 1 person in the future.

It would be primarily for me to write down things to share with the internet even if not a single person ever visits it.

Do you have one?

Do I have a blog? Yeah. Click the link in my signature. Or go to the blog sticky. I'm the one with all the crazy arse kids.

You don't have a signature

Started my blog today. Not sure how to do these things, so I hope it works out!

Sometimes I do... sometimes I don't... don't really know why it does that...
Your signature only appears on the first post you make in each thread.

I think I've caught up on all the blogs now. Next sticky update will be at the end of this month or thereabouts.

Someone recommended this one on the boards in a recent post (can't remember who, sorry): http://www.aspiringminoritydoctor.com

Checked it out and quite liked it. She even went out of her way to make it easy to navigate to certain particularly interesting posts that applicants would be particularly interested in viewing.

Hey! so I saw that post about blogs..and I wanted to see if mine could be added on there!

I'm about to begin a post-bacc program..and I am basically writing about my entire experience (good, bad, relevant to medicine, and not so relevant). It's really new, as I'm just starting all this but I hope to gain more reader's as time goes on!

Take a look!

Are you still adding new non-trad blogs to the blogroll? If yes, here's mine.

http://snakesonacane.wordpress.com/

I'm 40, a lawyer (not all that uncommon here), bioethicist, wife and mom taking the MCAT in January and applying next June.

adoc2be.blogspot.com

Non-traditional in every way. Single mom raised son on her own, career took off, became VP of Internal Audit for $2B publicly held company ... now carries 3.9+ through all pre-reqs ... started blog in 2008... chronicles the highs and lows of leaving a lucrative career behind to chase a childhood instilled dream.

If you're looking for specific guidance on how to do as well as I did GPA wise, the blog won't tell you that though tips and tricks on ochem, biochem, physics are buried in it.

If you're looking for comfort that someone else has had a hard time figuring out to
do this thing called premed and MCAT while juggling family, job, life - then this is it.

As the MCAT gets closer and then over, I will post more on that.

SFW. Eventually, I hope it is not a pre-med blog but a med student blog. :)

Hi,

My blog is http://premedpostfailure.blogspot.ca/

The blog is about me overcomming my poor academic past of failing 11 courses, to now getting 88-80 percent average.

Also I was wondering how do I put a link to my blog in my signature?
Thanks!
