Hi Guys ,

I was wondering if it was possible for Canadians to attain an in-state residency status in U.S (for fee reduction purposes) while attending an Optometry school . Also , are scholarships and financial aide available to Canadians .

I couldn't find a thread on this , so I apologize if this has been answered here before.

Thank you

Not Canadian, but an international student. As far as I know, the answer to that is 'no' (at least for my school). It seems one of the general requirements to getting in-state tuition via in-state residency is being a permanent resident (via green card or US citizenship).

From what I know, most schools that differentiate in-state and out-of state tuition option also have a system where after the first year you apply for in-state and then pay the same tuition. This might just be for US residents though and not Canadians

As a Canadian you will not be able to obtain in state tuition for any of your years.

You will not be eligible for any sort of financial aide.

You will be eligible for many scholarships given by the various schools.
