Hi, I was just wondering how prevalent carpal tunnel syndrome is among dental students and/or practicing dentists.

I know dentistry is rough on the hands (among other parts of the body), but it seems that this is something that can cause you to have to stop practicing.

Is that something you worry about? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I already have minor carpel tunnel and I'm not even in dental school yet! :(

go see an occupational therapist ... they will hook you up with exercises and stretches to help reduce inflamation. i have it both hands and i'm fine. i was also a gymnast, i still rock climb, and i only have have MINOR numbness after multiple days of lots of intense work with no stretching/heat/etc.

surgery should be an absolute last resort (that, and its not even 100%)
