26 male, VA Resident

Major: Biomedical Engineering
cGPA: 3.41
sGPA: 3.42
MCAT: 28 (11/9/8)

ECS:
Volunteer:
-In charge of tutoring group, 2 Hour per week tutoring * 2 semesters
-Fraternity Food Drives – 20 hours
-NROTC Volunteer Events – 20 hours

Research:
-1 Semester Fuel Cell Research on proton permeable membrane efficiency
-2 Semesters Needle Guide Design Accuracy/Cost Research (Published XXXX)
-Summer research and development at DEKA on insulin pump delivery systems for diabetic patients

Employment:
-USN Surface Warfare Officer – Specialty in Nuclear Engineering (5 years)....lots of leadership and such here that I won't get into

Shadowing:
-Anesthesiologist: 50 hours
-Radiology Oncologist: 10 hours
-General Practitioner: 20 hours

Really was shooting for MD but clearly would require a miracle at this point. Any recommendations/comments on school list and chances for MD/DO?....goro please comment!

First off, many thanks for your service to our country. Your numbers are fine for any DO program, but very weak for MD. BUT, Adcoms have a soft spot for veterans, and so I think you might have some good luck at 3/4 VA MD schools (I'd skip U VA), and throw in U WV as well.

Would it be worth applying to any private schools outside of VA? and if so any suggestions?
