Hi SDN,
I am hoping to get some advice on which schools would be reasonable for me to apply to.
Applying DO/MD. Resident of Colorado. Graduated Dec 2014.
Stats:
Majors: Biological Sciences; Chemistry
Minor: Political Science
cGPA: 3.83
sGPA: ~3.7
April 2015 MCAT preliminary percentiles:
Chem/Phys: 61-76%
CARS: 73-88%
Bio/Biochem: 83% - 98%
Psych/Soc: 85-100%
MCAT Total Score: 83-93% (hopefully comparable to ~32 -34)
Volunteering - Clinical:
~ 150 hours on Medical Telemetry unit and Oncology floor
Volunteering - Non-Clinical:
~ 70 hours (planting trees, community work, etc)
Work Experience - Clinical:
Medical Scribe in ER - 300 hours
Medical Scribe in Pulmonary Clinic (at a top resp hospital) - 150 hours
Work Experience - Non Clinical:
~ 3000+ hours as Cashier, Sales Associate, Barista (Etc) while attending school full-time
Leadership:
~100 hours as VP for Service Programming where I coordinated volunteer/service events for my chapter
Research:
*Starting new research job next week in pulmonary research lab as laboratory technician for genomics, proteomics, etc.
3.0 credits of official undergraduate neurobiology research on Parkinson's disease treatments (~200 hours of research credited)
1 year of research (~150 hours uncredited volunteer lab monkey research) on Parkinson's disease
Honors/Awards:
Undergraduate Award for Excellence and Promise for the Future (x2)
Undergraduate Research Grant for $250 for supplies for research project
Other:
Interested in possible continuing research institutions
Interested in Global Health
Interested in Emergency Medicine
