Am I competitive...???
BS in neuroscience
cGPA=3.7 (hopefully will go up by the time I graduate in 2014)
sGPA is slightly lower
Recieved C+'s in low level biology course and general chemistry

Health Care experience:
>100 hours shadowing a DO
50 hours shadowing a PA
100+ hours volunteering on a pediatric floor
Executive member of Project Sunshine ( a club that volunteers for children in hospitals/ronald mcdonald house
1 semester research assistant in a cognition lab with 4 year olds
Planning to do research next semester but it would only be 1 semester

Taking a gap year - advice on what to do?!?!?!

Yeah boost your research, and you will be very competitive to your state schools. Also expand your list to other mid tiers that you would like, with some reaches.

Also what is your projected MCAT score from your AAMC averages? I think perhaps around a 33 will serve you well. Good luck!

If you rock the MCAT (>33) chances excellent for any NY school.

With ~30-31, omit Rochester and NYU.

28-30, add NYCOM and the TouroCOMs; omit Hofstra and Mt Sinai
