Hey,

Just wondering what kind of chances for an MD school with these stats (of if MD is out of reach and DO is the way to go)

33 MCAT

3.8 cGPA

3.5 BCPM GPA

Thanks!

As far as stats go, definitely have a good shot at MD schools, just apply broadly. What're your EC's like and what state are you a resident of? Also, balanced MCAT? Those will help to give you a clearer picture. The .3 discrepancy between your cGPA and sGPA may raise some eyebrows, however.

AMCAS stats tables suggest that All Applicants applying with a 3.8/33 had an 82% chance of success. These figures do not take into account a lower BCPM or one's ECs. It would help to have an upward trend in the sciences. What class brought it down?

Well, if the EC's were: GlobeMed for four years, four years of AMSA, Student Senate for 2 years, Circle K International (a Kiwanis volunteer organization) for four years, and working a paid job for 2 years.

All BCPM classes were 4.0's after freshman year, what brought it down from a 4.0 was an F in intro biology and pre-calc freshman year. But followed up with straight A's in all upper biology and math classes up to Calc 2 and Stats.

Why would the .3 difference raise eyebrows exactly? MCAT 11 10 12

Do you have any clinical volunteering or research experience?

There's been research since high school senior year.

In your case, due to the steep upward grade trend, I think the spread is not an issue.
