Change the Word [game]

I love word games, and thought this game might be a fun distraction.

Basically we're going to start off with a very simple word. Each person who posts is allowed to change one letter of the previous. This can be adding a letter, subtracting a letter, or simply switching a letter somewhere in the word. The only rule is that the change has to result in a legitimate word. Slang is acceptable.

The whole point is to see what wild and crazy words we end up with after starting out with something simple.

Spirit fingers if it's animal/vet-related.
