Like with any other specialty, it appears to vary depending on the size of the program-- perhaps 5-8 interviewees per residency slot? So, maybe 30-40 interviews for a class of 5, if I had to guess.

I think a 1+ person is someone who is an intern right now who has just decided to apply for child neuro. So, that person would want 1 year of pedi + the child neuro, hence "1+". They did away with that, so now, the few people in that situation would just wait until next year and apply for an advanced (only the 3 years of neuro) spot.
