There was a peds in there, but yeah, no one's into (non-specialized) IM or FM?

I'm somewhat interested in non-specialized peds. And I did really consider FM for while, maybe it'll return the the center of my interests at some point. Who knows.

F'realz...Ya'll make me feel like such an underachiever :p For now, I'm thinking FM, maybe geriatrics or pain and palliative care.

This is your first cognitive dissonance warning ;)

Yeah yeah. :p

Here's my point. I've been pretty active on a mom message board for about 3 years now, since I first got pregnant with Chicklet. Opinions about your doctor come up a LOT and reponses run the gamut. Sure, some women have only seen female doctors and refuse to see a guy, but there are VERY few of these. However, I cannot tell you how many times I've seen women say they really like their male OB, for the reasons I mentioned. I don't think I've ever seen someone honestly post that they would never see a male doctor again after being one's patient. Sure, a lot of women are hesistant to see one for the first time, but can you blame them? In general, they seem pleasantly surprised once they do see a male doctor (myself included) which happens a lot. It's very common for pregnant women to be seen by every doctor in their group, regardless of who usually does their yearly exam, because any of them could potentially be the one that delivers their baby (depending on who's on call).

(warning: gross generalization, hearsay and assumption follow)

My problem with OB is the fact that it seems to me that 1) there are a lot more women than men filling the residency programs, aka it is essentially all women, and 2) a lot of those women seem to be overworked, malignant, man-hating biatches. That is based on limited info and my experience going through the replication process as a catcher instead of a pitcher, however, so we'll see what the core clerkship brings. I like the specialty in theory; in practice it doesn't seem to be for me.

I've already gotten 3 emails about this (Chase, BestBuy, and NY And Company).

Apparently people want my email address really badly.

Chase and Citi over here.

Hmm, I've gotten emails like that from: Ameriprise Financial and Abebooks. Thankfully NOT Chase or Citi..thankfully it's just email addresses. Although this year seems to be my "personal information" breach year: The two above, Healthnet, and AECOM. The latter two have my SSN :(

EM is primary care... :shifty:

I do toy with IM/FM but, as we all know how the conventional wisdom goes, I wouldn't say for certain until after doing my rotations. I remember a friend of mine telling me that she initially thought of doing surgery, but some very positive experiences with her FM preceptor steered her into FM. So, who knows.

i feel in terms of personality i should be a cutter, intellectually i should be in rads or path, and to satisfy my laziness, derm.

so really, the perfect field for me remains peds gyn

I'm a little disturbed....

This is the first time I have been able to call "twinsies!" with bleargh...and it is about this.

Also, cliff, cougs, flow, and any others... let's keep PM&R a secret. I don't want people to find out about it, at least until after I match. Thaaanks!
Deal!

At research conference I roomed with a PM&R resident a couple years ago, and he was very happy, chill, had time for a fiance and his hobby of cycling. That's when I started looking into PM&R more. Also, the ability to work in a number of different settings is attractive.

FM is in the back of my mind. If I had some sort of guarantee my life wouldn't suck and I wouldn't be under compensated I'd put it back into my top 3. The idea of being an FM in a small town where you see everyone for everything sounds like a lot of fun and variety, but an FM in an area with tons of specialists seems like you'd just end up writing scripts for DM, HTN, etc.

I totally agree. Again, just from my personal experiences, I have had a great experience with the three male OB/GYNs I have seen. When I was younger, I saw a woman, but practices merged and I ended up seeing the male doc. Interestingly, my OB resident was also a guy and was good too. I understand the hesitancy, but agree that if guys like OB, they shouldn't be deterred.

you could always just do neurosurgery, make bank, and when your wife dies move to a tiny town to do the FM you describe.

Also, now that you're a donor, upload your avatar again and it will be larger. You may have to resize it yourself if the original pic is monstrous.

WAT?

I don't even...

Wait...I am bolder right??! I'm on tapatalk so I can't tell :(.

Aight, Ill make LC bigger for yall ;)

Edit: Just got in the office and nope, I'm not bolder :|. I thought that's what happens when you're gold :(. Do I have to go lifetime???!

Same here - sick too - maybe the frosty goodness is the secret elixir after all - that would be awesome!

Anytime is an acceptable time for a margarita.

Agreed!

I have a coconut lime lotion that does the same.

I feel like it hasn't changed since the last time I had to fill one out. Last century. Ha.
