Class of 2020!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well done on your first semester.

What's your major as you don't see many pre-meds move on to calc ll?

I started college out with Calc I. what's the biggie?

I think this will be my year. It will probably take 2 years to do a post bacc.

Anyone else already kind of uneasy about the 2015 MCAT changes? I know right now to focus on learning the core material but it just bugs me that it will be so new and unknown.

Hahahahahaha. 2020? Jeepers. Enjoy college!

Disappointed that I didn't get to start this thread. :(

If I knew I was taking a gap year I would've done it hahaha

What year are you (for med school) inycepoo? 2019?

I'm 2020. Taking a gap year after finishing college in 2015.

But it seems like this thread is all clueless freshmen right now so I'll wait until they grow up

Lol ouch!

Tell us how you really feel.

But 2020 isn't that far when you think about it. Heck, isn't 2018 going through their cycle now?

It sort of freaks me out that it's 7 years from now. :scared:

True, but that's like saying a high school senior thinks the same way as a college sophomore; after all, they're only two years apart! Look at who started this thread - a high schooler. They talked about college for a bit before getting trolled. It's not anything bad, as we've all see similar changes in ourselves throughout college and such, but I can't say it's not funny/annoying.

Pretty soon, people will come on here asking what/when to take prereqs and about MCAT studying tips, at which point those of us who have been on SDN for a while will be :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: all the way to the "unsubscribe" button.

I can concur with that. College was such a reality check.

But you say the latter point like that isn't the daily diet of the pre-allo forums.

 I'm 2018 for the same reason; graduated this spring and in my gap year right now (which was a great decision for me--I'm loving the time to work on secondaries, relax, get away from school, get a job, experience new things, etc.).

+1

Guys... I didn't discover this website until a few months before applying and I'm GLAD it happened that way. Don't make yourselves crazy so early!!!

Yep, same here. Planning on getting a job in public policy of some sort and pursue my interest in political science research before enslaving myself to medicine.

Very cool! Good luck! :)

Hi, I have been a member of Sdn For a year or so now, but never really posted. I plan 2 submit my application June 2015, I am in the correct thread right?

A little about myself, I worked in construction for a year after highschool, joined the navy as a FMF corpsman in 2008. 6 mos hospital corps school, 2 month field medical training. Got married and had 2 boys (1 yo and 4 yo) Station in CT I worked directly under physicians in family medicine, immunizations, pediatrics and internal medicine for one year ( they push us to be independent so it was a great learning experience). Deployed to AFG in June 2010 for I mos. Conducting various combat patrols, being the sole provider I treated various injuries from blast wounds/amputations to gun shot wounds. I also worked in the ER in AFG.in 2011 I was stationed in NC where I worked in physical therapy for 1 year. In 2012 I was medically retired and began my journey through school.
I'm just now beginning to volunteer at a local ER, and hopefully find a doc there to shadow.
My gpa after basics is a 3.9. Since I have all 6 precs to complete starting in spring, I plan to take the MCAT early 2015 after Chem1/2 and physics 1/2 is complete. Since I don't have enough time I plan to self learn OCHEM. And apply early June.

Thanks for your service! I think you're in good shape and you can avoid taking the new MCAT (i.e. take it in Jan 2015). But you may need to take psychology/sociology/biochemistry because the requirements of schools are changing.

All completed except biochemistry, I am talking it fall 2014. Jan 2015 is my plan as of now.

Class of 2020 here! School is flying by pretty fast now. Almost half way done and loving every day of my undergrad!

August 15 MCAT date next year for me.
Taking the summer to complete sn2ed study schedule. I will be doing research on the side but I am going to treat MCAT studying like it's my job this summer.

Looking forward to some more interaction on this thread in the coming years!

Planning to take it next september. And I'm confused why this thread is non existent...

I'm also planning on taking the MCAT next September using the sn2ed study method during the summer

Hi everyone!!!! I am so glad that we are almost halfway through undergrad, and next year at this time we will be preparing to apply to medical school!!! I am super excited, but I am having trouble deciding when I will take the MCAT. I was going to take it in May because I will be at a very demanding internship for the summer. Now, I am not sure. I will have all of the courses and I already have study materials. I just need to set a date so that I will have ample amount of time to study. Any idea where you guys want to apply next year???

I'm a non-traditional URM applying summer 2015 hoping to matriculate in 2016. I'll be 25 at the time of application. Got a lot of work between now and then!

No idea where I'll be applying. There is still so much time left! I think I'll be taking the old MCAT instead of the new one is September. I just hope AdComs don't see me taking the old MCAT as a negative. I will still be taking biochem, psychology, and sociology though.

Nah, I doubt it's going to hurt. I'll be taking the old MCAT as well, and other than my state schools, I haven't a clue either!

Me too!
I'm taking mine in January. If I am prepared I may take in September and retake in January if need be. (Hopefully not!!)

MCAT 2015 is the right answer.

So I was going to take psych this semester to prepare me for the 2015 MCAT but I had schedule issues and ended up not taking it. Do I really need it or is A&P more important?

I have only taken a practice MCAT (old version) and I found A&P to be very helpful. I have taken intro psych, but I think that is a subject that may be easier to self teach.
You may want to wait for more replies, because I am not an MCAT/med school expert by any means :)
