The answer is extremely variable, and will depend on not only the school, but each individual interviewer. I have had closed file and open file interviews at the same school because each interviewer had a different preference.

If you invest in the MSAR, some schools will list interview settings under the selection factors tab. Check that out.

Just wanted to add: If you are invited for an interview, sometimes the school will provide that information on the invite or confirmation email.
