How would that work?
I'm an American and Polish citizen, so would I have better chances of landing a residency?

The main advantage would be you'd be exempt from visa issues when applying to residency programs, clerkships there etc.

Apart from that, not much. You still have to do really well on your steps, do electives in the US, and the rest what IMGs would do. They might also question you as to why you went all the way to Poland to do medicine. I'd have a good answer if I were you.
 
Actually if you are a polish citizen and graduate from a EU medical school (poland would count) you can apply to the UK for residency.
