I scored a 495/81 on my COMLEX level I. Is this good enough to get into an emergency medicine program? thanks!

Do you really think one score without any other grades or letters will determine whether or not you'll get into an EM residency?

I think what the OP is asking is if the COMLEX score he/she got is competitive enough among other applicants for EM, not merely that the score itself will land the residency.

OP, it depends on what type of residency you want to do... MD or DO?

Fair enough, but without the other variables, it's rather hard to say. Impossible, even.

I had to repeat my second year because of a family emergency, my grades aren't so hot either. I guess I have an up hill battle here...

This will be a very very steep hill. Find a faculty or senior mentor and see what can be done.

It may be good enough for a lesser known DO program if you rotate there and make a good impression. Unlikely to open the necessary doors at MD programs, however.

It's a package deal. A board score in isolation means little. Boards, SLORs, Grades, PS, and Experience are all ways to pad an application.

just think...there are people that got worse than your score. Granted they may not have a year off to explain away, but still. Guess what I'm saying is there is usually someone that is in worse of a situation than you.
